Privacy Policy

Fluente is a Spanish-learning app built and run by an independent developer. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app collects, where it is stored, which services process it, and how you can delete it. Fluente shows no ads, uses no marketing trackers, and never sells your data.

What the app collects

• Account details. Your email address and a password. The password is stored in hashed form by the authentication service and is never visible to the developer.
• Profile and learning data. Your display name, learning goal and target level; placement-test results; your answers to exercises and exams (including texts you write); the AI feedback and scores you receive; XP and progress; and your vocabulary review history.
• Speaking recordings. Audio you record for speaking exercises, the placement test and exams.
• Crash data. If the app crashes or hits an error, a technical report (device model, operating-system version, app version and a stack trace) is sent to the crash-reporting service Sentry. No advertising identifiers are collected.

Where your data is stored

Account details, learning data and speaking recordings are stored with Supabase, the app's hosting provider for its database, authentication and file storage. Your session on your own device is kept in the operating system's secure storage, and all traffic between the app and its servers is encrypted (HTTPS).

Which services process your data

Fluente relies on a small number of processors, each only for a specific feature:

• Supabase — database, authentication and file storage (see above).
• Anthropic — your writing submissions and the transcripts of your speaking recordings are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate grades and feedback.
• OpenAI — your speaking recordings are sent to OpenAI's Whisper API to be transcribed to text.
• Sentry — receives crash reports as described above.

Your content is sent to these services solely to provide the feature at hand — grading, transcription or crash diagnosis. Under the API terms Fluente uses, Anthropic and OpenAI do not use this content to train their models.

Data retention and account deletion

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete account. Deletion removes your account, all your learning data and your stored speaking recordings. You can also request deletion by email (address below).

Children

Fluente is not directed at children under 13, and the app is currently invite-only.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, this page will be updated and the effective date above revised.
